Barbara Mount Designs was started in 2010 in response to numerous requests from friends and family for design tips and help in making their homes feel comfortable yet current.
What started as a few hours spent in a client’s home either picking paint colors, textiles and lighting to re-arranging existing furniture and bookshelves, has become a full-fledged design business. Whether it’s a new master bathroom and bedroom re-model, or a few hours spent re-purposing a client’s living room furniture to make it feel new and fresh, her eye for design is traditional with a hit of modern flair.
With over 16 years of experience as an art director, Barbara’s background in the home catalog business has given her a natural understanding of how a room should be laid out for maximum impact and flow of space. Several years working with talented stylists gives her a unique perspective on how to group beautiful objects together for maximum impact, whether seeking out the new or gently used, re-using beloved family heirlooms, or adding impact with a custom design piece.
Most recently, Barbara has added home staging to her resumé, helping sellers prepare their homes for listing photos and marketing materials. While relying mostly on a client's own furnishings and decor, she is always watching the bottom line and renting or purchasing items that accent the client's taste and decor without going over budget, supplementing her styling with smart purchases that add flair and gracious detail to rooms throughout the home.
With a new venture ahead of her as a Real Estate Agent with Windermere Stellar in Lake Oswego, OR, Barbara is really excited about combining her interior design and styling with Real Estate. "My goal is to take my background in creative art direction and interior design and meld it seamlessly into providing real estate clients with a full-service experience. From incorporating staging on the front end for a quick and easy sale, to guiding buyers in their decision to purchase a home by offering expert advice on interior design and remodeling, my aim is to give my clients an experience they will relish." Barbara has a strong network of lighting sources, textile and surface suppliers, as well as custom furniture makers and upholsterers to help with any design and styling needs.
